Get off to a good start

Senses’ yoga and training concepts are for everyone. Our classes can be adapted to all levels, so everyone can participate regardless of age (minimum 18 years), physical condition, injury history, and whether you’re a beginner or advanced. The only thing you need is an open mind. Under ‘Types of Classes‘, you can find descriptions of all our classes and which ones you can attend, for example, if you’re pregnant. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask at the reception. Our skilled receptionists are ready to assist you.

Read the following points with guidance and etiquette to get off to the best start with your training at Senses.

We look forward to welcoming you and helping you get started successfully.

Senses etiquette

At Senses, we aim to be your peaceful oasis in a hectic everyday life. We do our best to make your experience at Senses as good, calm, and inspiring as possible.

Thank you for contributing to the good atmosphere by following these simple guidelines. You are helping to make your own and others’ visits to Senses a truly enjoyable experience.

Contribute to the atmosphere

Turn off your phone and enjoy the tranquillity. Be present when you arrive at Senses. Leave your phone in the changing room on silent mode. The class begins as soon as you step into Senses. Prepare yourself to create a calm space around you.

Visual tranquillity is also important. Therefore, use the lockers in the changing rooms for your belongings. Do not bring bags, shoes, and drinking glasses, etc., into the studios.

Senses is a shoe-free studio. Use the shoe bags on the bench in the reception area for your footwear (including your wet winter boots) and place the bag in the locker in the changing room.

Speak softly in the lounge area when waiting to enter your class. On the other side of the door, others may be in shavasana, enjoying the silence.

Respect the silence in the studios. Find your place in the room calmly, settle on your mat, and begin your practice by turning your attention inward.

Conversation and a cozy atmosphere are welcome in the reception area after the class.

Do not take photographs in the changing rooms.

Leave the changing rooms and studios as you would like to find them yourself. Be especially mindful of how you leave the floor in the Hot Yoga studio. If you drip on the floor, please clean up after yourself and leave the floor dry after class. Make it a habit to bring an extra towel.

Put away tools/props neatly and leave the studio inviting for the next participants.

Only use indoor shoes on the treadmills (Senses Vesterbro) and take them off and put them on inside the running area. The treadmills cannot withstand small stones and dirt, so please help us take care of them.

Use non-slip socks for Reformer classes for hygiene and safety reasons. You can purchase toe socks for 110 kr. at the reception.

Inform the instructor if you:

Are new to the class.

Have injuries, weak joints, are pregnant, or have any other conditions that require special consideration.

Are unsure of your level or have other questions.

Be aware of the following:

Arrive no later than 15 minutes before the class starts. Otherwise, your spot may be given to someone on the waiting list. If you arrive late, we reserve the right to ask you to wait for the next class out of respect for the other participants and the instructor – and also for yourself.

Our senses become heightened when practicing yoga – especially in the Hot Yoga studio. Strong scents/odors can be bothersome. Avoid wearing perfumes, deodorants, or creams with strong scents. You are welcome to take a shower before the class starts.

You train at your own risk. Follow the instructor’s instructions and take care of yourself.

You must be registered for the class to participate. Bring the receipt to the instructor.

Thank you for being mindful of the etiquette at Senses. In this way, you contribute to creating a peaceful oasis in the midst of our hectic everyday life.

General advice for your practice at Senses

Avoid heavy meals at least two hours before the start of the class to have the most comfortable training. Instead, opt for lighter foods like fruits and similar before your training.

Remember to keep your body hydrated and drink plenty of water both before and after your training.

Don’t hesitate to ask the instructor if you’re unsure about something.

If you have any injuries, if you’re new, or if you have concerns or anything else that requires special consideration, please inform your instructor before the class starts. The instructor will come around to collect recipient, and there will be time to ask questions discreetly. Let us know if we need to accommodate you – we want to take good care of you and provide you with the best training.

Guidelines for Hot yoga

Bring your yoga mat and two towels. It will be hot, and you will need an extra towel for your mat. You can also rent a yoga mat and towel at the reception. It costs 25 kr. to rent a hot yoga kit – a set with both a mat and a yoga towel, and 20 kr. if you only need to rent a yoga towel to place on top of your own mat. You can also rent a bath towel for 20 kr.

Place your mat according to the specifications on the floor.

Drink plenty of water both before and after a Hot Yoga class.

At Senses, we offer different Hot Yoga classes with varying intensity. See which one suits you best under Class Types.

Your attire should be light and comfortable. Be prepared to sweat.

At Senses, a class lasts for 60 minutes. We expect you to stay in the room for the entire class for your own sake, as well as for the sake of the other participants and the instructor. If you need a break during the class, you can simply sit or lie down or use the resting position demonstrated by the instructor. Do not attend the class if you do not have time to stay for the full 60 minutes.

Respect the silence in the room. Soft conversation is welcome in the reception and lounge area after class. If you have any questions for the instructor, ask them when they come around to collect receipts.

You may be sensitive to strong scents/odour in the yoga room. All senses are heightened. Avoid wearing perfumes, deodorants, or creams with strong scents. You are welcome to take a shower before the class starts. If you drip sweat on the floor, please wipe it up and leave the floor dry after class.

Only perform the poses guided by the instructor and avoid particularly inverted poses (such as headstand) in the heat. You are responsible for your own training, so take care of yourself.

If you are pregnant, it is advised not to practice in the hot room unless you are accustomed to training in heat and know your body very well.

We recommend that you come as often as possible within the first 14 days after starting, so you can acclimate to the heat and quickly begin to reap all the positive effects of yoga.

Booking, Attendance, and Cancellation

We recommend that you book your class in advance to avoid disappointment in case it is fully booked. You can book through ‘My Senses‘ or our Senses-Booking app (Find the app in Google Play or the App Store). You can only book one spot per class type per day. If you wish to participate in more than one class of the same type per day, you can join based on available spots in the class. You can find out if there are available spots by being present at the studio shortly before the class starts. Arrive in good time. The booking system releases spots to the waiting list 15 minutes before the class starts. Therefore, if you haven’t arrived at least 15 minutes before, your booking will be cancelled, and the spots will be distributed on a “first-come, first-served” basis. A fee for no-show will be charged subsequently. If you miss a class without cancelling in advance, you will be charged a “no-show fee” of 30 kr. This also applies if you are on the waiting list. If you are on the waiting list, you must remember to cancel at least three hours before if you don’t want to attend the class in the studio and take a chance to get a spot. Failure to do so will result in a “no-show fee” for failing to cancel. Remember that there are usually registered participants who do not show up, so there is a good chance of getting a spot if you are on the waiting list and enter the studio. NOTE! The last chance to cancel is three hours before the start of the class. You can easily cancel through ‘My Senses‘ or our Senses-Booking app.

Cancellation of events and theme classes must be done at least12 hours before the start unless otherwise stated for the specific event. Special fees may apply for events. If you arrive late, we reserve the right to ask you to wait for the next class, out of respect for the other participants and the instructor – and ultimately for yourself. When everyone ensures timely cancellations, other members can benefit from the available spot, so there are no unused spots in the classes.

Questions about being new at Senses

I’m new. How do I get started?

The best way to get to know us and our yoga and training concepts is by purchasing a class in the webshop. You can select the right class for you by reading our class descriptions. And if you have any doubts or questions, you can ask our skilled receptionists.

What if I’ve never tried yoga before?

If you are completely new to yoga, it is advisable to start with our Hatha Yoga class. It is conducted at a slow pace and gradually builds strength and flexibility in the body. We regularly offer the ‘New to Yoga/Ny til yoga’ program, which provides a gentle introduction to the world of yoga. Keep an eye on our Facebook page ‘Senses’ or Instagram ‘sensesyoga’ to see when the next program starts.

If you’re interested in trying Hot Yoga even though you’re new, we recommend starting with the class called Hot Yoga and waiting to try Hot Yoga Flow until you’re familiar with the basic technique and fundamental poses. If you’re joining as a beginner, please inform the instructor so that we can provide the necessary guidance. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask at the reception.

What if I’ve never tried Reformer before?

When you’re trying Reformer for the first time, you should take an introductory class. You can either attend a 15-minute REFORMER: INTRO session and receive a brief introduction to the machine before your first Reformer class, or you can take our REFORMER INTRO: 60 min. class, which combines an introduction to the machine and the basic exercises with a regular workout. You can find both types of intro classes in the class schedule.
If you’re attending a 15-minute intro class, simply book a spot in the Reformer class that follows it. When you arrive at the studio well in advance of the intro class, the receptionist will ensure that you have a spot in it.

I am new in Senses, what should I know?

At Senses, we strive to be a peaceful oasis in a hectic everyday life. We do our best to make your experience at Senses as great as possible. We kindly ask you to read and follow the instructions in the Senses etiquette. By doing so, you contribute to the positive atmosphere. I don’t have a mat or a towel. Can I rent them?

At the reception, you can rent a Hot Yoga kit, which includes a yoga mat and a non-slip towel to place on top of the mat. It costs 25 kr. You can also purchase a punch card with 5 x Hot Yoga kits for 100 kr.

The reception also sells water, coconut water, non-slip toe socks for Reformer training, and BKR water bottles.
