Important information about participating in HOT YOGA classes

Bring your own yoga mat and two towels. It gets hot, and you’ll need an extra towel for your mat. Drink plenty of water throughout the day before attending a HOT YOGA class.

For your safety, we ask you to carefully read our guide to getting started at Senses and guidelines for Hot Yoga. This will ensure you have the best experience and get the most out of your training.

HOT YOGA

HOT YOGA is calm but intense yoga in 37-39 ˚C. The yoga poses are guided at a relaxed pace, allowing time to feel and work with your body, so you learn how to perform the poses correctly and safely.

We hold the yoga poses for several breaths, challenging your physical and mental endurance.

Your body will perspire, and you will train your concentration, coordination, balance, and breath awareness. During the class, we work our entire body and conclude with a meditative relaxation.

Who can participate? HOT YOGA is a good place to start if you are new to the heated room. There is time to get the basic understanding of the postures in place. The more experienced yogi will also be challenged. If you are pregnant, we advise against practicing in the heated room.

HOT YOGA: FLOW

HOT YOGA: FLOW is dynamic and intense movement in 37-39 ˚C. The yoga poses are guided at a pace that follows the breath, creating a creative flow with smooth transitions between each pose. During the class, you will work on coordination, balance, concentration, and breath awareness.

You will sweat, your heart rate will increase, and you will breathe deeper. You will be challenged both physically and mentally, but you can take a break on your yoga mat at any time.

Who can participate? If it’s your first time doing yoga in the heated room, we recommend starting with HOT YOGA. If you are pregnant, we advise against practicing in the heated room.

HOT YOGA: SENSES

HOT YOGA: SENSES is Hatha yoga with a set sequence of poses in the 37-39 ˚C hot room.
The yoga poses are performed at a pace that allows for deepening into the pose, feeling the body and breath. Sweat will trickle from your skin, sharpening your senses and attention.

HOT YOGA: SENSES is intense training for those who want to build strength, flexibility, and balance.
It is advantageous to practice HOT YOGA regularly and take it easy if you are new or have had a longer break.
Once you are familiar with the HOT YOGA sequence, you can let go of mental activity, and your movements will become more meditative.

Who can participate? Everyone can participate. If you are pregnant, we advise against practicing in the heated room.

HOT YOGA: YIN

HOT YOGA: YIN is gentle and immersive stretching of the body in 37-39 ˚C. Yin yoga poses loosen and relaxes the hips, back, shoulders, and neck. You primarily perform seated and reclining poses, and each pose is held for 1-3 minutes.

In YIN YOGA, you can direct your attention to the breath, inner calmness, and releasing tension and muscular activity in the body. The various stretches increase the flexibility of the body’s connective tissues, stimulate the meridian channels, digestion, internal organs, and enhance energy flow throughout the body. The heated room helps the body release tension quickly, relax, and find rest in the body and mind.

Who can participate? Everyone can participate. If you are pregnant, we advise against practicing in the heated room.

HOT YOGA: YANG/YIN

HOT YOGA: YANG/YIN is a combination of yang yoga, which is active and intense, and yin yoga, which is calm and focuses on long stretches.

Through the active, standing yang poses, you build strength, stamina, and flexibility. And through the gentle yin yoga, you stretch the body’s connective tissues, calm the nervous system, and let your mind settle. Attention is turned inward for the final meditation.

The heat helps the body release tension quickly, relax, and find rest in the body and mind.

General information about HOT YOGA:

HOT YOGA is yoga practiced in heat. When the body works in heat, the training becomes more intense. The heat reduces tension and helps the muscles relax, allowing you to go deeper into the poses. You will focus on your breath, and all your senses will sharpen. There are many benefits to HOT YOGA:

  • You get intense and effective training.
  • You become more flexible and stronger quickly.
  • You sweat more in the heat, eliminating toxins while training.
  • You increase metabolism, and your skin becomes clearer.
  • You train your focus and develop mental resilience.

In Senses’ HOT YOGA room, the temperature is 37-39 ˚C. This is equivalent to your body temperature and means that the body recognizes the heat and quickly adapts. You can expect to spend the first few classes getting used to the heat.
