Ida Johanne de Coninck Hugge
What do you emphasize in your teaching?
I emphasize creating a safe space where there is room to be exactly who you are, with the body you have brought with you today. In my class, we work on body awareness, flexibility, strength, endurance, musicality, and a touch of humor. I focus on making it fun, getting a sweat going, thoroughly working the body, and connecting with both body and mind.
What do you hope your students will take away from a class with you?
I want you to leave with your head held high, a soft and well-used body, sweat on your forehead, and a smile on your lips.
I hope you leave with a desire to come back. To leave everything else outside and dedicate an hour to your body and mind.
To just let loose and let your inner child take over. To experience a release and gain an abundance of energy for the rest of the day (or even longer). I want to create an abundance and a joy that you can carry with you wherever you go.
What do you particularly like about Senses?
I particularly like the atmosphere and the calmness that comes when you step through the door. A safe haven and a little oasis in the city.
An escape. Where there’s room for many different possibilities for self-expression.
What motivates you to teach?
I am motivated by our amazing bodies. The students who challenge me and challenge themselves every day. I am motivated by seeing the significant progress that happens with the students. I am motivated by the shared desire in the classes to be there together and create a space around our bodies for an hour that is dedicated just to us. I have worked with my own injuries and recovered, and I know how life-affirming it is to be able to move freely. And how it can save our lives.
