What motivates you to teach?
I have been dancing since I was 13, and at the age of 18, I traveled to the USA to dance. That’s where I started teaching, and quite quickly, I discovered the special magical flow that arises when movements, activity, communication, music, class management, and participants’ engagement come together in harmony. As a teacher, you get back what you give – manifold and more. Teaching fills me with energy, joy, and vitality for everyday life, and it’s the most wonderful gift to be able to contribute to following the students’ development and helping them reach a different place in their training than they would have reached if they had trained alone.
What motivates you to keep yourself active?
The body – which is the most amazing machine ever invented. All bodies in the world are different, and I work with great respect for the individual body. The body in motion has always been my personal sanctuary in a sometimes hectic everyday life, and it’s in training that I recharge my batteries for all aspects of life.
What do you emphasize in your teaching?
That I can support, guide, and assist you in working with the unique body you’ve been given through professional, evidence-based knowledge, and my experiences. In my teaching, I emphasize how we can best listen to the signals from the body (respecting the current state) and challenge or acknowledge the body in line with this bodily dialogue. A warm, engaging, and joyful atmosphere at eye level ties the entire teaching together. My goal is to send participants home with a lovely warm feeling of having used their entire body in a positive way – combined with a delightful mental break and a smile on their faces.
